Kurta and Pajama: They are a quite popular wear of men these days in the city.  It is worn usually during occasions like marriages, festivals, temple visits etc.

Sherwani or Shervani: A traditional men wear which is more common in North India and gaining popularity in the South, especially Chennai.  Sherwani is a long coat, buttoned up in front with ban collars. The shervani falls well below the knees, and looks elegant especially if the man is tall. The sherwanis are available in many colors, more common ones being off-white, beige, cream shade are more popular in men.  These are worn mostly for marriages and very special occasions.

Jodhpuri Suit: Originating from the North India, this is another bridal wear suit which is a blend of Indian and western taste. It is also known as the prince suit because of its western suit like product, with a Coat and a trouser and at times accompanied by a vest. The embroidery works in them bring the ethnic touch to these accompanied by the famous Nehru collar. These are best suited for occasions like weddings and formal gatherings. They are also an ideal outfit for relatives and close friends of the bride and the groom. Young men prefer it for its royal appearance. The material is usually silk though other shiny fabrics are also common.  Normally, the trousers match that of the coat. There is also trend now to wear contrasting trowsers to match the coat color.

Kurta / Shirt and Veshti / Dhothi: Thats sounds traditional too but yet modern doesnt it?  This attire is getting more popular among the youngsters as well as other age groups especially for occasions like marriage, festivals, and cultural occasions. Mostly men wear silk Veshti and this is usually half white in colour and the Kurta could be of different colours usually bright, though some men prefer half white or cream colour kurtas to go with their Veshti.

Night Wear: Men generally prefer to wear lungi and banyan in the night. A lungi is a long piece of unstitched cloth that is tied around the waist and runs down till the foot. Youngsters prefer to wear casual shorts or bermudas with a banyan. Some men also wear cotton pajamas.
